يتشرف دار المصور بدعوتكم لافتتاح معرض التصوير الفوتوغرافي "مشاهد من أفريقيا" للمصور رياض دمشقية وذلك نهار الخميس ١٨ كانون ثاني ٢٠١٨ الساعة السادسة مساءً.

يتضمن المعرض صوراً التقطها دمشقية خلال رحلته التصويرية في كينيا وشمال تنزانيا في صيف ٢٠١٧. تعكس هذه الصور حياة قبائل الماساي القاطنة هناك في بيوت الطين، وتعايشهم مع العالم الحيواني في المحميات الوطنية.

يعود ريع هذا المعرض كاملاً إلى دعم مدرسة الأخوة لتعليم الأطفال اللاجئين في مخيم برج البراجنة حيث يعاني معظمهم من صدمات واض...طرابات نفسية.

رياض دمشقية: أستاذ محاضر في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، عاد إلى ممارسة هواية التصوير تشجيعاً من دار المصور بعد انقطاع دام لثلاثين عاماً.

يستمر المعرض حتى ٢٥ منه.

Dar Al Mussawir cordially invites you to “Scenes from Africa”, a photography exhibition by Riad Dimechkie.

“Those photos were taken during our photography tour in Kenya and northern Tanzania in the summer of 2017. It was the trip of a lifetime and every picture tells a story of the Maasai people in their mud-hut villages, or tending their livestock while harmoniously coexisting with the wild animals in the national wildlife reserves.

The pictures were taken in the famous national parks, reserves and sanctuaries including Kilimanjaro, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Amboseli, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Some of the parks are larger than Lebanon with no paved roads or concrete buildings. You can look out as far as the horizon in 360 degrees and it all “belongs” to the wild animals.

We covered a lot of ground in jeeps with pop-up roofs on bumpy dirt roads and marveled at the diversity of wildlife. We also enjoyed spending several hours in the company of a family maintaining a vigilant watch over their young, a small group resting after a meal, the young ones testing their strengths in mock combat or large migrating herds constantly on the move in search of water. We were able to observe their behavior and begin to synch with their natural hunting, resting, and migrating rhythms at different times of the day. In their wide-open bio-diverse habitat the animals roam freely and it is a crime to hunt them or disrupt their ecosystem.

The photos are for your enjoyment and they are for sale and all the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to FASC school for refugee children in Burj el Barajneh. The FASC school was started in 2000 and is partially funded by UNICEF. The school takes in around 200 kindergarten children aged 3-5 as well as 200 children (ages 6-14) and 40 young adults. They are the children of refugees from Syria and Palestine, many of whom have suffered severe trauma and disruption to their lives."

About Riad Dimechkie: Senior Lecturer at AUB and an avid photographer. Three years ago, he was encouraged to get back into (digital) photography after 30 years by new friends at Dar El Mussawir. The photos were taken with Canon 5D MK IV with 70-200mm lens 1:2.8L IS II, with a 2x multiplier
